Three hundred fifty deputies from the Spanish Congress received Bitcoin as a part of an educational initiative equal to the “Crypto for Congress” campaign that has sent bitcoin to all Members of U.S. Congress.
Bitcoin Directed to 350 Spanish Lawmakers
All 350 members of Spain’s Congress of Deputies have been sent bitcoin worth a euro each as part of an educational campaign; it was reported last Thursday. The Congress of Deputies is the lower house of Spain’s parliament, having 350 members.
The initiative was publicized by blockchain education platform Tutellus and Observatorio Blockchain “with the aim of raising awareness about the ‘transcendental’ role that cryptocurrencies are going to have in the transformation of the economy and society,” the report states, therefore quoting sources from the organization as saying:
The representatives of the ten parliamentary groups in the lower house of the parliament have received an email with one euro’s equivalent in bitcoin.
The move had followed the Crypto for Congress initiative by the Chamber of Digital Commerce that has sent all the U.S. Members of the Congress bitcoin that aided as campaign contributions.
Although the bitcoin sent by the Crypto for Congress initiative was intended as donations, Miguel Caballero, the founder of Tutellus, launched the Spanish industry and said the bitcoin was sent to 350 Spanish deputies “is not a donation.” He proclaimed:
