Wirex, a multicurrency card that mechanically makes payments in the local currency without exchange fees, announced that it had received its first United States Transmission Licence.
With this grant, the company can be allowed to operationalize its cryptocurrency exchange businesses in the states.
Awarded by Georgia’s Department of Banking and Finance, the mentioned licensing would also pave the way for them to launch future innovation in terms of cryptocurrencies.
In an announcement, it revealed that the forthcoming move to watch out for is the next-gen cryptocurrency platform associated with a spending card in the U.S. This will be launched in the coming months.
In terms of touchpoints, the company has already served 3 million customers across 130 countries. Its card can be used at over 54 million locations Visa is accepted.
Controlled by the U.K.’s Financial Conduct Authority, Wirex is now supporting major cryptocurrencies and traditional currency wallets such as USD, AUD, JPY, SGD, HKD, EUR, GBP, MXN, CZK, CAD, CHF, ETH, BTC, WXT, DAI, NANO, to name a few.
It also owns Cryptoback, a crypto rewards program that inevitably gives customers up to 1.5% back in bitcoin for every purchase made in-store.
The UK-based company has turned out to be the first cryptocurrency-native platform to obtain a Mastercard principal much costs and faster transactions on a platform that is striving to make all currencies of the same value.
