Kevin Shipp, a former CIA agent is spreading a fringe conspiracy theory on Twitter regarding how Microsoft’s cryptocurrency license is a satanic plot.
Microsoft’s cryptocurrency and tin-foil-head conspiracies
As per the report published by U.Today, Microsoft filed a patent for an innovative cryptocurrency that uses brain waves and body heat for mining as a form of the proof-of-work consensus algorithm:
“Body activity data may be generated based on the sensed body activity of the user. A cryptocurrency system communicatively coupled to the device of the user may verify whether or not the body activity data satisfies one or more conditions set by the cryptocurrency system, and award cryptocurrency to the user whose body activity data is verified.”
The system would make it possible to unconsciously solve complex computational tasks without deploying massive computational power like Bitcoin. It’s highly likely that the system will not turn into an actual product since tech giants in Microsoft’s likes usually file patents for fending off copyright infringement.
However, the revolutionary idea was sufficient enough to become a breeding ground for new tin-foil-hat conspiracy theories about Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. The fact that the patent was filed under the number WO2020060606A1 also didn’t help. Russian Oscar-winning director Nikita Mikhalkov called the “060606” part “somewhat alarming“:
“The 060606 part is somewhat alarming. You probably understand this, right? Is this a coincidence or an intentional selection of such a symbol, which in the Apocalypse of John is called the ‘number of the beast’ – the 666.”
Shipp claims that Lady Gaga is involved as well
Shipp was the same agent who sued the CIA over mold in 2011 and is now steering clear from opening other popular conspiracy theories concerning celebrities. In one of his recent tweets, he says that Oscar-winning pop star Lady Gaga is part of the sinister plot after becoming Abramovic’s hardcore student in 2013 and participating in her “Spirit Cooking” dinner.
T’was Seven Years ago when Marina Abramovic reveals that Lady Gaga as a “Quite Incredible” student.
Performance artist Marina Abramovic has talked about what it was like teaching Lady Gaga her method, and why the singer wanted to film a short video showing her practicing the techniques.
Gaga first spoke of her appreciation of the Serbian artist’s work in 2010, with the pair planning a collaboration since then.
During that same time, the US pop star filmed a video for Abramovic’s Kickstarter campaign, which is seeking funds for a center where people can practice her method, designed to heighten participants’ awareness of their physical and mental experience in the present moment.
The technique helps participants to develop skills for observing long durational performances through a series of exercises, some of which are performed by Gaga in the video.
Abramovic has said that Gaga’s participation had dramatically raised awareness of her work and that there had been a particular uptake in $1 donors. Abramovic stated all backers would receive a hug from her, while $25 backers would train them specific exercises via live stream.
“I was very impressed with how humble and incredibly determined and hardcore this kid is,” Abramović told MTV of Gaga’s interest in her style.
She said, ‘I want you to teach me, I want to be your student.’
“She is a hardcore student. I had to blindfold her, and she was in the forest for three hours, eaten by mosquitoes and spiders, scratched by the bushes. It was quite incredible. Whatever I told her, she met the exercise absolutely to the end, never complaining. And my workouts are pretty tough.”
The Kickstarter aims to raise more than £1million for a building that will act as an “interdisciplinary performance and education center.” Not everyone is a fan, nevertheless. Deadmau5 tweeted his disapproval of the video with a series of messages mocking Gaga’s participation.
