Eminem partners with Gemini’s Nifty Gateway to launch his first ever NFT. Three types of NFTs are also now up for sale.
Right on time for Oscar Sunday, the iconic rapper and Oscar winner for “Lose Yourself” in 2003, Eminem, together with Nifty Gateway, has revealed that his first NFT at the Shady Con. Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, is the latest in a long line of celebrities, musicians and athletes that are getting in on the NFT craze. Eminem teamed up with Nifty gateway, the NFT platform owned by Gemini, to release his NFT last Sunday, April 25, 2021.
It could have been the latest Saturday Night Live (SNL) skit on NFTs that caught the rapper’s attention. In the said skit, a rapper portrayed by SNL cast member Pete Davidson explained what NFTs are to the tune of Eminem’s “Without Me.”
Now there are three types of NFTs that are up for sale, each of them are high-quality animations with an original beat produced by Eminem himself. There are 50 editions of each of the first two NFTs, which are titled “TOOLS OF THE TRADE” and “STILL D.G.A.F.” cost $5,000.
Those who are fast to buy them will also receive a physical print, numbered by hand and autographed by the rapper. The last, “STAN’S REVENGE,” is an edition of another, and will be sold to the highest bidder. It is still unclear who animated the NFTs.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Eminem to our platform,” responded Ashley Ramos, Senior Producer at Nifty Gateway, “demand for NFTs continues to grow and we’re excited to bring this collaboration to our community and give them access to new artwork and music on Nifty Gateway’s marketplace.”
The news comes along as many musical acts are joining in on the NFT craze, including Snoop Dogg, Weezer, A$AP Rocky, Boy George, Aphex Twin, Grimes, The White Stripes, and Kings of Leon.
Duncan and Griffin Cock Foster founded Nifty Gateway in 2018 and it was acquired by Gemini in November 2019. The Eminem NFT drop took place on Shady Con last April 25, 2021.
