Miami is hosting the biggest-ever cryptocurrency virtual convention this week
The Miami cryptocurrency conference is to give a hint to the community; that what was once dismissed as a fad is now going widespread.
The conference, which will start on June 3 and will last until June 5. This will be held at the Mana Convention Center in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood. The gathering will carry a crowd of reputable attendees; which would include Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. Mayor Suarez has emphasized that he wants to make the city a crypto hub.
The meeting was originally scheduled to run from April 30 to May 1 in Los Angeles. It was transferred to Miami amid California’s strict COVID-19 policies. Organizers also changed the date back from the original timeline. This is to allow time for the second wave of the virus to pass and enable vaccines to roll out.
Conference organizers expect upwards of 50,000 attendees.
Though still modest compared to its west coast equivalents, Miami has surfaced as a central tech hub in recent years. The Wynwood neighborhood, in particular, has matured to become a hub for arts, technology, and innovation.
The mayor stated that he plans to allow citizens to pay taxes and fees to the city in bitcoin.

Mayor Suarez also asserted that he is “definitely open to exploring”. The thought of investing 1% of the city’s treasury reserves in Bitcoin (BTC).
This was in response on Twitter to a challenge from Anthony “Pomp” Pompliano. Pomp is the Co-founder and Partner of Morgan Creek Digital Assets.
