“Ensuring a secure method for transferring both value and data across various chains has been a long-standing necessity in the blockchain industry,” remarked Sergey Nazarov, co-founder of Chainlink.
This release signifies the introduction of a pivotal software platform in the crypto world, bridging blockchain rails with external data through oracle services, thereby addressing the rapidly expanding sector of blockchain bridges. With the burgeoning digital asset economy, bridges play a vital role in interconnecting the growing multitude of blockchain rails, facilitating the seamless transfer of both value and data between them. According to DefiLlama data, existing bridges facilitated the transfer of approximately $12 billion worth of assets across chains last month. However, bridges are frequently targeted by exploits and hacks, posing potential risks of losses for users.
“Transporter addresses a longstanding need in the blockchain industry for a secure method to transfer both value and data across chains,” stated Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov. “With Transporter, leveraging the security advantages of Chainlink’s CCIP for transferring substantial token value and crucial messages across chains becomes more accessible.”
Transporter was developed utilizing Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), a foundational technology pivotal in Chainlink’s collaboration with SWIFT, the closed network employed by banks for international money transfers.
Additionally, the platform provides global support and features a real-time visual tracker enabling users to monitor the transfer status between chains. It applies the standard fee associated with utilizing CCIP, which encompasses the expenses incurred for executing the transaction on the destination blockchain and compensating CCIP service providers.
“I anticipate that Transporter will swiftly become the benchmark for enabling cross-chain transactions in high-value scenarios,” remarked Nomatic, an investor at Fourth Revolution Capital, an early adopter of the bridge.
